Jakarta, Indonesia — 27 January 2026

The Indonesia Economic Forum (IEF) will host the Curtain Raiser on Indonesia Open Network (ION) on Thursday, 5 February 2026, at Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL, Jakarta (Tiara Ballroom, 3rd Floor), as part of the 12th Annual Indonesia Economic Forum themed “The Digital Archipelago: Building Inclusive Digital Commerce Ecosystem.” The Opening Ceremony (09:00–11:00 WIB) will be inaugurated by H.E. Mamman Abdurrahman, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Republic of Indonesia, and will be attended by invited VVIP guests from government, industry, and the digital ecosystem. The program includes high-profile panels on financial services, logistics, and innovation, and a dedicated press conference at 10:45 WIB.

ION is conceived as an open, interoperable digital public infrastructure (DPI) for commerce—a neutral “network layer” designed to connect buyer apps, seller apps, logistics, payments, and digital services, enabling MSMEs, cooperatives, farmers, artisans, and local enterprises to participate in the digital economy more fairly and efficiently. ION is not another marketplace; it is intended to connect existing platforms and programs through shared protocols and interoperability, reducing fragmentation and unlocking nationwide scale. ION’s Advisory Council brings together eminent leaders spanning Indonesia and India’s DPI experience, including Shinta Kamdani (Chairman, APINDO), Dr Ilham A. Habibie (Chairman, PII), Dr R. S. Sharma (Former Chairman, ONDC), T. Koshy (Founding MD & CEO, ONDC), and H.E. Sandeep Chakravorty (Ambassador of India to Indonesia), reflecting a strong cross-border collaboration between Indonesia’s real economy and India’s proven open-network expertise.

The Curtain Raiser is supported through strategic partnerships with key public institutions and ecosystem bodies, including KemenUMKM, KomDigi, Kemendag, the Embassy of India, APINDO, and ALDEI—aligning national MSME empowerment, digital ecosystem development, and market access initiatives with interoperable digital commerce rails. Operationally, ION’s rollout follows a three-fold approach: (1) plugging into existing national and institutional digitization programs (including large-scale MSME initiatives such as SAPA UMKM), (2) onboarding major consumer ecosystems as buyer-side demand drivers, and (3) accelerating hyperlocal ecosystem activation in partnership with KomDigi’s app ecosystem and logistics associations.

ION is also being developed with leading technology and ecosystem partners to ensure a secure, scalable, protocol-driven network. Core and enabling collaborations include Google, Protean e-Gov Technologies, Pidge, Networks for Humanity, COSS, Beckn Foundation, SequelString, and Bank BRI, among others—supporting interoperability, cloud-scale readiness, logistics integration, and MSME enablement at national scale.
