Sanur, Bali, 19 October 2026 — The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Komdigi) officially opened Bali Tech Week (BTW) 2026 at the Bali Beach Convention Center, Sanur, Bali. Bringing together 13 technology events on 19–23 October 2026, the initiative provides a platform for collaboration to strengthen confidence, unlock partnership and investment opportunities, and broaden the benefits of the digital economy for society.
In her opening remarks, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid emphasised that Indonesia already has a sizeable digital market. The next step is to translate that scale into productivity, innovation, and national technological capabilities through three priorities for digital transformation: Connected, Growing, and Secure.

“Our main task is no longer simply to build Indonesia’s connectivity, but also to ensure that connectivity translates into growth—in the economy, in society, and in improvements to public services. No economic growth is worth pursuing without safeguards. Ultimately, innovation must protect society and protect businesses by providing regulatory certainty,” said Meutya.
Ahead of the second anniversary of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration on 20 October 2026, Meutya called on all stakeholders to reflect on the progress achieved and the work that remains. Infrastructure development, industry growth, stronger public capabilities, and user protection must move in the same direction for digital transformation to deliver tangible results.
Connected: Expanding Access and Improving Quality
Under the Connected pillar, Komdigi emphasises the importance of quality, affordability, and reliability in connectivity. In her presentation, Meutya noted that approximately 235 million Indonesians were using the internet in 2026, with penetration reaching 81.72 per cent, while 4G networks covered 98.96 per cent of the population.
According to Meutya, technology must deliver benefits that people and businesses can experience directly. Connectivity becomes meaningful when it helps small businesses enter new markets, enables students to learn without disruption, and makes previously hard-to-reach services more accessible.
“We still have work to do. Guided by the principle of no one left behind, inclusivity requires us to reach 100 per cent. Fast internet must benefit not only our fellow citizens in Java, but also those in eastern Indonesia,” she explained.
Growing: Turning Technology Adoption into Productivity
Under the Growing pillar, digital economy development is directed towards improving business efficiency, expanding market access, and creating added value. The e-Conomy SEA 2025 report estimated that Indonesia’s digital economy reached a gross merchandise value (GMV) of US$99 billion in 2025, up 14 per cent from the previous year.
To build on this potential, Komdigi is strengthening connections between talent, startups, universities, industry, investors, and markets. Within the Garuda Spark ecosystem, Meutya reported that 178 programmes had reached more than 15,700 digital talents, supported 80 startups, and involved 80 partners, with recorded direct investment exceeding Rp429.5 billion.
Strengthening this ecosystem is expected to expand opportunities for Indonesian innovators to develop products, secure funding, and reach markets, including in the gaming industry. Technology is also being used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of public services through data exchange and matching across government institutions.
Secure: Building Trust and Certainty
Under the Secure pillar, Komdigi emphasises public protection, the security of digital services, and clear regulations that can be applied consistently. Trust provides the foundation for people to feel safe using technology, businesses to understand their responsibilities, and investors to have the certainty needed to support long-term growth.
These efforts include child protection through the implementation of the Tunas Government Regulation (PP Tunas), measures to address harmful content, digital literacy, and stronger personal data protection. As the administration enters its third year, Komdigi is also prioritising AI governance, digital talent development aligned with industry needs, and personal data protection.
“These three priorities reinforce one another. Reliable infrastructure enables innovation. Skilled talent turns technology into productive activity. Responsible governance gives people and businesses the confidence to participate,” said Meutya.
The First Day of Bali Tech Week 2026

Taking place on 19–23 October 2026, BTW brings together 13 technology events under one platform, covering connectivity, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the digital economy, startup development, and investment.
The first day centres on “Connect the Nation”, positioning connectivity and infrastructure as the foundation for extending the benefits of digital transformation across Indonesia.
The opening programme also featured a keynote address by Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, highlighting the links between infrastructure development, energy transformation, and national development.
Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said, “We can maximise downstream development in the energy sector when it is supported by good technology and reliable, competitive, and efficient industrialisation. Technology is part of the digital industry, which we can connect directly with major industries. Digitalisation can have a positive impact when used well.”
The first day was also attended by Vice Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo; Komdigi’s Director General of Digital Ecosystem Edwin Hidayat Abdullah; President Director of Telkom Indonesia Nanang Hendarno; President Director of Telkomsel Nugroho; GoTo Chief Executive Officer Hans Patuwo; and other leaders from the telecommunications industry and digital ecosystem.
Other programmes included discussions on Southeast Asia’s position in global technology, next-generation networks, stronger national digital infrastructure, the Telkomsel AI Solution Announcement, Tokocrypto Digital Summit, Tea Talks, and a dialogue between the Minister and women leaders in the digital ecosystem.
Through BTW 2026, designed as Indonesia’s flagship technology event, Komdigi encourages industry and investors to identify opportunities to strengthen infrastructure, develop local talent, and support the growth of Indonesian companies. Founders and universities are expected to bring solutions grounded in real needs, while technology platforms and international partners are encouraged to share expertise to build safer and more trustworthy digital services.
