JAKARTA, 13 July 2023 – As technology continues to rapidly progress, investing in human capital has never been more crucial than before. In a time where people rely heavily on social media and the quick traffic of information that is accessible through our phones, digital literacy becomes the #1 must-have skill.
Education plays an important role in upskilling every citizen in the country. It is the driving force behind a progressive society, a child’s first exposure to the larger societal circle as well as the greatest personal development circle. Even so, education does not stop at formal schooling. It is a continuous process that can be experienced by every person, at any given time and age.
While borders and hierarchy continue to blur, and even disappear, thanks to technology, the tall stack of homework for Indonesian inclusive education continues to loom over all of us. Education is a basic right for all and the responsibility is shared beyond the realm of governmental bodies and the education sector alone.
In partnership with Orbit Future Academy, the Indonesia Economic Forum held an exclusive roundtable that has successfully brought together leaders and representatives from various Indonesian companies, from startups to foundations and corporate companies, including Kopi Kenangan, GoTo Group, Kitabisa, Wahyoo, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), Nutrifood, PT BFI Finance Indonesia, Tbk, PT United Tractors Tbk, Yayasan Saluran Berkat Mandiri, and Castle Asia.
As a body independent from the bureaucracy of government bodies, corporations have the leg room to diversify their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. They are able to utilize significant capital and resources that are needed in order to realize a more inclusive and accessible education in the country.
Through this roundtable, participants involved are able to expand their network and discuss commendable action items that have the potential to greatly affect how Indonesia handles inclusive education for its citizens. Participants were able to address relevant challenges and reach an equal understanding of implementing inclusive education in their CSR programs, as well as share the necessary steps needed to diversify their CSR programs beyond what has been done thus far.
