Jakarta, 5 February 2024 (Source: InvestorTrust) – KAI Commuter together with CRRC Sifang Co, Ltd signed a Cooperation Contract for the Procurement of New Electric Railway Facilities (KRL) worth IDR 783 billion, on January 31 2024, in Beijing. At the contract signing, KAI Commuter was represented by President Director Asdo Artriviyanto.

Also present to witness it directly were Deputy Head of Representative of the Indonesian Embassy to China Parulian George Andreas Silalahi, Secretary I of the Indonesian Embassy Sari Widita, Main Director of PT KAI (Persero) Didiek Hartantyo, as well as representatives from the Ministry of BUMN and the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute ( LKPP). KAI is the parent company of KAI Commuter.

Asdo said, in this contract, KAI Commuter purchased three new KRL series with the KCI-SFC120-V type. “The procurement of new KRL facilities is a fulfillment of the number of KRL facilities in accordance with the service needs of Jabodetabek Commuter Line users in 2024-2025, which has reached almost 1 million users per day,” said Asdo in a statement on Thursday (31/01/2024).

Procurement of new KRL facilities, continued Asdo, is also part of a series of fulfillment of Jabodetabek KRL facilities which were discussed in the coordination meeting. The meeting was chaired directly by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in June 2023, which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of BUMN, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Industry, BPKP, PT INKA, and other stakeholders.

List of Procurement Cooperation
In fulfilling the procurement of KRL facilities, said Asdo, KAI Commuter has signed a number of cooperation agreements for the procurement of KRL facilities. These include:

  1. Procurement of 16 new KRL facilities by PT INKA, with a total investment of almost IDR 3.83 trillion.
  2. Procurement of 19 Retrofit KRL trains by PT INKA, with a total investment of more than IDR 2.23 trillion.
  3. Procurement of three new imported KRL series by CRRC Sifang, China, with a total investment of around IDR 783 billion.

“All financing comes from KAI Commuter loans, shareholder loans from PT KAI, and assistance from the government through State Capital Participation (PMN),” he explained.
