TEMPO.COJakarta – Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that Microsoft Corporation is interested in investing USD 1 billion in Indonesia, or around IDR 14 trillion.

“The USD 1 billion investment will be used for the database,” Luhut said in his office after a dialogue with reporters, Friday, January 17, 2020.

Luhut said the company, founded by Bill Gates, plans to create a data center in Indonesia.

There has only been talks so far, but Luhut hopes the plan will be realized as soon as possible.

The multinational software company met with Luhut at the minister’s office this morning at 09:00.  Luhut and undisclosed representatives from Microsoft held the meeting in private, without media presence.
