This year’s International Orbit Habibie Festival will be the first to be held after the passing of BJ Habibie, former Indonesian president and father of the festival’s founder, Ilham A. Habibie.
The festival was first held in 2016 to commemorate BJ Habibie’s 80th birthday and his contribution to science and technology in Indonesia
Sachin V. Gopalan, the festival’s cofounder and CEO, said there would be a tribute honoring BJ Habibie and the legacy he had left for the nation.
“In his life, he fought for seven sectors that became essential to our daily lives, namely democracy, education, industry, research and development, science and technology, Islam and culture,” Sachin said.
The technology and innovation festival seeks to bring new and useful experiences in science and technology by allowing attendees to see, touch and feel innovations in various programs and activities.
The festival will also feature show-and-tell presentations, panel discussions, mini seminars, workshops and training sessions.
Many fields of modern technology such as artificial intelligence, robotics, drones and virtual reality will also be covered, along with aerospace, telecommunications, automotive and manufacturing.
Ilham A. Habibie said the cycle of innovation began with learning, saying that good learning experiences would enable more efficient and effective work, leading to more time to play and an increased quality of life.
The International Orbit Habibie Festival will be held at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, North Jakarta, from Oct. 17 to 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m with an entrance fee of Rp 10,000 (71 US cents). (mfp/wng)
