Komdigi Successfully Concludes Bali Tech Week 2026, Strengthening Collaboration Across ASEAN’s Digital Ecosystem and Expanding Access to Investment, Global Markets, and AI Development Opportunities

HUB.ID brought together 81 startups, 45 investors, and 35 corporations from 13 countries, while IGDX gathered 244 game studios and 66 publishers from 31 countries. Innovation was also showcased through the launch of GoTo’s 27-billion-parameter LLM and nine locally developed AI solutions from Telkomsel.

Jakarta, 28 October 2026 — Bali Tech Week (BTW) 2026 successfully concluded after running from 19–23 October 2026 at the Bali Beach Convention Center, Sanur, bringing together government, industry, startups, investors, academics, and communities from Indonesia and around the globe. Initiated by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), BTW strengthened confidence in Indonesia’s digital ecosystem through collaboration that opened investment opportunities, access to global markets, and avenues for artificial intelligence (AI) development, while advancing policy dialogue across ASEAN.

Under the theme “Archipelago Ascending: Advance Together, Innovate Further”, BTW brought together 13 technology events guided by the principles of Terhubung, Tumbuh, dan Terjaga — Connected, Growing, and Secured. The event was supported by Telkom Indonesia as Founding Partner, alongside strategic partners including Telkomsel, GoTo, and InJourney, as well as other event partners.

Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid emphasised that connectivity must drive growth while protecting the public and providing certainty for businesses.

“Our primary task is no longer simply to build Indonesia’s connectivity, but also to ensure that connectivity translates into growth—in the economy, in society, and in improved public services. No economic growth is worth pursuing without safeguards. Ultimately, innovation must protect the public and safeguard businesses by providing regulatory certainty,” Meutya said at the opening of BTW 2026.

Opening Access to Investment and Global Markets

HUB.ID Global Summit Matchmaking

Through HUB.ID Global Summit 2026, Komdigi brought together 81 startups, 45 investors, and 35 corporations from 13 countries in curated business matchmaking sessions. Corporate participation expanded opportunities for startups to reach prospective customers, develop technology implementation partnerships, and explore market access and funding.

In the gaming sector, the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) 2026, organised by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) in partnership with the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), brought together 244 game studios and 66 publishers from 31 countries. The forum provided opportunities for Indonesian developers to explore publishing, distribution, investment, and joint game development with international partners. This year’s IGDX was held in collaboration with event partners Garena, Roblox, Multi Realm Games, Sisnet, Google Play, Ekraf, and Institut Français Indonesia.

Cross-border connections were further strengthened by Endeavor Indonesia through its Access to Market Tour: Indonesia Edition. The programme brought entrepreneurs from Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil to participate in BTW, build connections through HUB.ID and the Endeavor Dinner: Multiply Beyond Borders, and continue exploring market opportunities in Jakarta.

Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, Director General of Digital Ecosystem at Komdigi, emphasised, “Bali Tech Week 2026 is a collaborative effort to strengthen Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. We bring together government, industry players, startups, investors, academics, and communities so that their respective strengths can support one another. Through HUB.ID Global Summit, this collaboration translates into targeted business meetings, opening access to funding, strategic partnerships, and markets for Indonesian innovation.”

Strengthening Indonesia’s AI Capabilities

BTW provided a platform for AI technologies developed to understand local needs. GoTo launched an open-source Large Language Model (LLM) with 27 billion parameters, designed to understand Indonesian and several regional languages, including Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, and Batak. The model is available free of charge for startups, businesses, universities, researchers, and public institutions to use, study, and adapt in developing AI solutions.

Telkomsel showcased nine locally developed AI-powered products and services to gather feedback from users and partners ahead of further development. These demonstrations included SISCAMLING, which helps identify signs of fraud and suspicious communications; Adelia, an AI search engine and assistant; Sacred Octagon for mathematics learning; and AUREL, which helps users access business information and summaries.

At The 6th Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit (AIIS) 2026, KORIKA and AI Singapore launched Project NUSA (Network for Unified, Secure AI). The initiative develops shared foundations for governance and local knowledge to support AI adoption that is safe, trustworthy, and relevant to industry needs. In its initial phase, 20 organisations from industry, technology, and education were listed as part of the Project NUSA ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Foundry Collective introduced its AI-Native Company Builder programme with the Founder Institute, with the inaugural cohort targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Foundry also presented the Indonesia AI Startups Compendium 2026, developed with DailySocial.id, featuring profiles of 40 curated AI startups across seven industry verticals.

Expanding Digital Infrastructure and Investment Opportunities

Meutya Hafid, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, and Dr. Ir. Ismail, M.T., Secretary General of the Ministry, visit the Telkom Indonesia booth.

Throughout BTW, TelkomGroup highlighted efforts to strengthen digital sovereignty and Indonesia’s potential to become an Indo-Pacific Digital Hub. Its contribution encompasses domestic and international connectivity, AI capabilities, and digital security and resilience as foundations for economic growth.

Infrastructure investment opportunities were also discussed through the agenda to expand data centre development into eastern Indonesia. Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director General of Digital Infrastructure at Komdigi, highlighted the importance of site planning, reliable energy supplies, backup connectivity, and streamlined licensing to support this development.

The discussions underscored that AI readiness requires comprehensive infrastructure support, including reliable electricity, sufficient network capacity, and coordination among central and local governments, operators, energy providers, and investors. More balanced infrastructure development is expected to broaden digital investment opportunities while supporting industry and public services across Indonesia.

Building Trust and a Responsible Digital Asset Ecosystem

Through Tokocrypto Digital Summit 2026, Tokocrypto brought together approximately 600 participants from regulatory bodies, global industry, and the blockchain ecosystem. The forum highlighted the importance of regulatory clarity, transparency, financial literacy, and consumer protection in supporting the growth of Indonesia’s digital asset industry.

Participation by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and domestic and global industry players brought regulatory perspectives together with the needs of innovation. Discussions emphasised that industry growth must be underpinned by governance, risk management, cybersecurity, and public understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with digital assets.

Digital resilience was also addressed through AICX 2026, organised by ITSEC Asia and Komdigi. Bringing together more than 600 participants and 25 domestic and international speakers, the forum examined AI, cybersecurity, and readiness for quantum technologies, including the need for talent development, infrastructure investment, and operational resilience.

Strengthening ASEAN Collaboration through Connected, Growing, and Secured

BTW’s regional dimension was reflected in the dialogue between Meutya Hafid and Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, which addressed digital trust, AI governance, and regional collaboration. In a separate dialogue with Malaysia’s Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil, child protection, platform responsibility, and regulatory approaches were shared priorities.

These exchanges reflected a common direction towards advancing ASEAN’s digital economy while safeguarding the public. Cross-border collaboration creates opportunities to share policy experience and encourage accountability among digital platforms operating across national boundaries.

The principle of Connected is realised through infrastructure and networks linking government, startups, investors, industry, and regional partners. Growing translates into investment opportunities, market access, technology demonstrations, digital transformation, and knowledge sharing. Meanwhile, Secured places security and user protection at the foundation of growth, in line with Komdigi’s initiatives, including PP TUNAS, biometric SIM card registration, DARA, and the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS).

Connecting talent, innovation, industry, and markets also guides the development of the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub, enabling collaboration to help ecosystem participants develop technologies and expand business opportunities.

Four Action Agendas to Sustain Collaboration Beyond BTW

Partner contributions were reflected across BTWCon, Telkom Sovereign Tech Summit, HUB.ID Global Summit 2026, Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) 2026, KORIKA AI Impact Summit (AIIS) 2026, ITSEC AI & Cybersecurity Executive Forum (AICX) 2026, Tokocrypto Digital Summit, Digital Economy Policy Forum, Endeavor Global Forum, Bali Capital Circle, Foundry Collective, Sira Village Excursion Trip, and UDImpact.

To follow up on discussions at BTW, Komdigi established four action agendas to strengthen Indonesia’s digital sovereignty: mapping national digital infrastructure and technology, developing technology adoption pilots, strengthening AI talent and innovation, and aligning regulation and investment with technological developments. The infrastructure mapping document is targeted for completion within 30 days of the announcement, providing a foundation for a joint action plan involving government, industry, universities, and technology communities.

“A good forum is measured not only by the lively discussions or dynamic exchanges it generates, but by what we do afterwards,” said Vice Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria at the Sovereign Tech Summit on 22 October. He emphasised that Indonesia remains open to global collaboration, technology, and investment while strengthening its ability to safeguard and retain control over digital capabilities of strategic national importance.

Sustaining these connections remains an important measure of success beyond the event: startups exploring funding and customer opportunities, technologies finding pathways to adoption, and partnerships helping Indonesian industries grow and reach wider markets.

“Indonesia has substantial talent, innovation, and market potential. Our challenge is to connect these strengths so that they generate broader economic benefits. We want the partnerships initiated at Bali Tech Week to develop into tangible investment and collaboration, helping startups grow, strengthening industry capabilities, and extending the benefits of technology to more regions,” Edwin concluded.
