JAKARTA – Indonesian mobile network operator (MNO) Telkomsel (Telekomunikasi Selular) has struck a deal to sell 4,000 telecom towers to Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (Mitratel) for IDR6.2 trillion (USD435.2 million).
Under the terms of their agreement, Telkomsel is signing a ten-year leaseback deal with Mitratel to use space on the new owner’s infrastructure.
In a statement, the MNO’s minority shareholder Singtel Group said: ‘The transaction will allow Telkomsel to optimise its capital structure as Telkomsel focuses on its core business of providing digital connectivity services to customers in Indonesia’.
Meanwhile, with the addition of these 4,000 towers, Mitratel now owns more than 28,000 towers across Indonesia.
‘Mitratel also welcomes further transactions with any party as long as the transaction would benefit both parties and bring value creation for stakeholders,’ it confirmed.
